How we do

The methodological foundation of Mirim-Brasil is in the participation of the public which benefits from its actions in democratic decision-making, and in their autonomous construction of their identities as agents of social transformation.
Our political-methodological project aims to awake a critical awareness and to promote dialogue in a process of reflection and collective construction. This is essential to guarantee the continuity of the proposed social work, besides contributing to the personal and political development of the people involved. With the intent of globalizing the rights of the child, Mirim networks with people and institutions, from the local to the international level, in diverse areas which reinforce the importance of a commitment to dignity and social well-being.
Day-to-day activities are realized for and with the different parties involved. Children and adolescents are listened to and participate in the development of actions and projects directed towards the fulfillment of their rights. Through representative entities, communities proposals strategic solutions to confront their situations of social vulnerability and rights violations, and get involved in the actions of Mirim-Brasil. All of the people and groups become motivated to participate in forums, networks, campaigns, and joint civil society and governmental councils increasing the participation of civil society in public debate and the realization of citizenship.
It is also worth noting that the decision-making process at Mirim-Brasil is realized with the participation of children, adolescents, youth, and adults (men and women), in a horizontal and flexible structure. This is because we believe that gender equality and inter-generational understanding are important practices to stimulate respect, mutual understanding of differences, and democracy.
Mirim-Brasil acts with the strong belief that every person is capable, possesses different but complementary abilities, and that together people can break barriers and be agents of human and social transformation. With this, we attempt to reach our objectives, collaborating for the elevation of each person’s self-esteem, with the end that he or she perceive the paths and mechanisms to demand his or her rights, assuming his or her role as a fundamental part of society.
