Our mission

Mirim-Brasil’s mission is to promote human rights with a focus on childhood, adolescence, and youth, with the goal of combating inequalities, stimulating citizenship participation, and bringing about a true democratization of our political, social, cultural and environmental reality. Full protection involves giving differential attention to the child, breaking with purely formal equality to establish a normative system inclined to promote material equality by means of unequal, privileged treatment, securing for the child his or her basic necessities, keeping in mind the child’s special condition of being a “person in development”.

In this, the NGO dedicates itself to:

  1. studying the situation of the child and adolescent and, if necessary, denouncing violence against the same;
  2. promoting the personal and political development of youth to actively demand their human rights and exercise their citizenship;
  3. involving the family and community in its actions, so as to facilitate their participation in social programs and governmental services;
  4. networking with community entities and other institutions which complement its actions for the full protection of the child and adolescent; and,
  5. including a perspective of global citizenship, acting in the international sphere as an integral part of the target public’s personal formation as citizens.
